The Pittsburgh Project is a Christian non-profit community development organization with a thirty-two year history of service to the Pittsburgh area.  Each summer, groups come to help with home repair projects in local neighborhoods, creating opportunities to encounter the richness and diversity of God’s kingdom through healthy connections with peers, neighbors and staff.

Campers stay in a converted school building in North Pittsburgh and work off-site each day.  In the evenings, there is worship and recreation led by summer staff.  All tools and building materials are provided.

Summer Sermon Series

Sunday, June 2, we begin a sermon series based on the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.  Many people are afflicted by some form of addiction.  Even more people are affected by friends or family members who are addicts.  But everyone can identify with the human dilemmas and themes of the 12 Steps.

Bill Wilson, the co-founder of AA, emphasized that the 12 Steps are not a religion, but a philosophy.  Learning about and utilizing them is therefore not an alternative to Christianity, but a lens through which we might see and recognize Christian truths.

It is my hope that these sermons will be helpful to you; and that by looking through this lens, we might discover insight for our lives and the courage to give witness to God’s love.  For, as AA says, you cannot keep what you’re not willing to give away.
